Adopted by the WACC Board on 1/22/25

1900. The National Federation Basketball Rules as modified by the CIF, the NCS and the WACC shall be the official rules governing WACC basketball contests.

1901. Eligibility and Levels of Competition:

1901.1F/S, JV, and varsity players may be moved from one level to another level at any time during the season. Players shall not participate at more than one level against the same team in the same round. Care shall be taken to ensure that players who move from one level to another during the season do not exceed the NCS limit on the maximum number of contests per individual.

1901.2Suiting up for a team constitutes playing, regardless of whether or not a student-athlete actually plays in a contest.

1902. Schedules and Game Procedures:

1902.1F/S games are seven-minute quarters; varsity and JV, eight-minute quarters.

1902.2Each school shall provide qualified scorers and timers for all games.

1902.3The WACC Board of Directors shall determine the starting times and order of play for basketball games on a yearly basis. Deviations from the league-approved schedule are permitted by the mutual agreement of both principals or their designated representatives.

1902.4The suggested starting time of tripleheaders is 4:00, 5:30 and 7:00; the suggested starting time of doubleheaders is 5:00 and 6:30. In any sequence of games, the time clock for the start of the next game shall be set at 15 minutes and shall start immediately following the conclusion of the previous game.

1903. The home coach shall post results to on CIFHome.

1904. All coaches shall be given league passes by their school. Visiting coaches shall accompany their student-athletes when entering the game site gate and supervise them throughout the entire event. Coaches unable to accompany their team shall make advance arrangements with the host athletic director; the arriving team shall sit in that section of the bleachers or other campus area designated in advance for visiting teams.

1905. Regarding league championships and automatic NCS representatives:

1905.1 The teams with the greatest number of wins at the end of the league season are the league champions. If there is a first place tie, all teams in the tie shall be designated league champions. The automatic NCS representatives shall be the Foothill League champion, the Foothill League runner-up, and the Shoreline League champion.  Ties shall be broken by the following prioritized steps:

1905.1.1 The record of the tied teams against each other in head-to-head competition.

1905.1.2 If this is a tie for other than 1st place, the records of the teams within the tie against the teams above them in the league standings, starting with the first place team.

1905.1.3 The records of the teams within the tie against the team immediately below them the league standings

1905.1.4 The records of the teams within the tie against the next lowest team in the league standings. This process shall continue using all teams in the league standings

1905.1.5  If at any time in the above steps a team is eliminated from the tie, but a tie still exists (started with a three-way tie for example), the progression starts once again with 1906.1 and continues until the tie is broken.

1906. All-League Selection Process

1906.1Coaches shall nominate their players using the process outlined on the WACC website. Coaches shall attend the postseason meeting to formally nominate their players. A coach who does not attend the meeting, send a substitute, or make arrangements with the league commissioner to vote may not nominate his/her players for All-League honors.

1906.2.1 The number of nominees from each school shall be based on the final league standings:

1st place five nominees

2nd and 3rd place four nominees

4th and 5th place three nominees

6th place or lower two nominees

1906.2One of the nominees shall be selected as “Player of the Year.”

1906.3Each coach shall then select seven players for 1st team honors that he/she feels are the best in the league, regardless of player position; then select seven players for 2nd team honors. Coaches may not vote for players from their own school.

1906.4The seven players who receive the most votes and the “POTY” shall constitute the All-League First Team. The seven players receiving the next most votes shall constitute the All League Second Team. If a tie occurs and the tie can be resolved by determining which player received the most 1st team votes, it shall be done; otherwise ties shall be voted off.

Players who receive 1st team votes from all coaches shall be listed as unanimous choices.

1906.5 Coaches shall add two honorable mention honorees from their school after the balloting.
